Fiction by Seth Cagin
The Uranium Drive-In is a novel I wrote several years back. I had a supportive agent shop it around and got a bunch of nibbles, but no bites. I became deeply discouraged about writing. After the election of Donald Trump, I somehow found the motivation to resume working on a sequel to The Uranium Drive-In. And then lost it. And might get it back again. Who knows?
But how to publish? This remains, to me, a bigger problem than writing. I find it difficult to write without having some faith there will be readers to complete the exercise. In working on the sequel, I had occasion to reread The Uranium Drive-In to refresh my memory about the characters. And I’m sorry if ths sounds vain, but I really think it’s too good for it to gather dust on my computer’s hard drive.
Plus, if I can’t find readers for it, how will I find them for the new book, even if it’s as good or better (in my unobjective opinion)?
So an experiment in faithbuilding. I’m publishing The Uranium Drive-In here, on my own little website.
I tried to make The Uranium Drive-In suspenseful and I hope people will want to reach the end. I guess I’ll find out now if I pulled it off.
