The Excelsior was purchased by Sharon Shuteran in 1979 from the restaurateur who stared it two years earlier.  She and her husband Peter Muckerman ran it for 14 years, selling it in 1992 to Jake Linzinmeir. I didn’t know Sharon when I arrived in 1991 and don’t really remember eating there while she owned it. Sharon went on to become a county judge and died way too young of a heart attack in 2012.

My recollection of The Excelsior begins when it was operated by Linzinmeir, who ran a number of restaurants between 1992 and 2013 or so, before he moved to Denver. He closed the Excelsior in March 2011.  I saw on FB he works as a restaurant consultant. Under Jake, The Excelsior was Italian, usually busy, always convivial. 

Can anyone speak about The Excelsior before and during Sharon and Peter’s tenure?  Or offer more details about Jake’s run?
