Gregor's Bakery

Gregor’s may have been best known for the town’s grumpiest baker (against some tough competition). Gregor never seemed happy to see a familiar face, or a new face, for that matter, in his establishment. I seem to remember delicious almond croissants with an unusal crunchy texture. After selling the business in 1994 to Maggie and Jack Eagleton, who renamed it Maggie’s Cafe and Bakery, Gregor moved to Dorset, Vermont, where, according to a friend of mine who lives there, he carried on in his grumpy fashion. From what I can tell looking online, the business may no longer be operating.  After Maggie’s moved to the old Elk’s Building, in a space formerly occupied by several Telluride Ghost Restaurants, the space became The Butcher and the Baker, before that restaurant moved just down the street to the old Telluride Music building. Now 217 E. Colorado houses Kelly’s Boutique.

Does anyone know where Gregor came from, how long he was in Telluride, or where he is today? What was in the building before Gregor? Was it a restaurant?
