This is one of several homes at the corner of Pacific and S. Davis streets where a rambling Victorian that housed Christel Leimgruber’s Bierstube once stood. Certainly for gemütlichkeit, nothing in town has replaced Leimgrubers for apres ski. It was wild and a true Telluride institution. I’m just guessing, but Christel was probably ready to retire and back in the late 2000s, before the economic bust, the business was not worth what the real estate was.  The hearty vibe persisted for another year or so after Christel left, when the joint was rebranded the West End Tavern.
